PuTTY Tray

I’ve released an updated version of PuTTY Tray to puttytray.goeswhere.com, direct download: putty.exe p0.61-t004 please see the site for the latest version and details.

This is a fork of Barry Haanstra’s PuTTY Tray, which is abandoned.

Main advantages:

  • Now built against PuTTY 0.61, getting features like Windows 7 Jumplist and Aero support, and four years of core PuTTY development
  • Ctrl+mousewheel zoom support
  • URL detection works on URLs ending with close-brackets
  • Much easier to continue development of, build script generator works and source, issue and pull-request tracking provided by github.

Please raise a bug if you have any problems or requests!

    Hi,

Out of curiosity, what build environment are you personally using for your fork?

    Regards,

    Jase.

Jase: I’m using the Windows SDK 7.1, and, I believe, its bundled compiler (16.00.40219.01), from nmake.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for updating PuTTY Tray, giving the website a new home and making the source available on GitHub. I really appreciate it.

I took down the original website and added some links to newer versions, including this one.

I hope you can take PuTTY Tray to the next level (or just keep it up-to-date)!

    Hello.

I have a feature that maybe is interesting for someone else. I have a settop box with telnet service, but not ftp or other protocol to upload files.

If putty could allow to create a command sequence to emulate the file upload using telnet, the problem will be resolved.

The request is to allow a external macro, dll, plugin create the sequence of commands to send to the server to get it working. For example, with a menu option a macro is fired that generate:

    ls -la /data > /tmp/filelist.txt
    gzip /tmp/filelist.txt
    cp /tmp/filelist.txt.gz /history/filelist-2012-01-10.txt.gz

And allow the user to create a backup of the filelist with only a click.

Sorry if the comment is not enough clear.

Do you think it can be a good feature for Putty Tray?

    Thanks.

    Hello

Thank you for continuing the project.

I would like to ask you a list of command line options.

I’m implementing a custom windows protocol like this:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\putty]
    @=”URL:PuTTY Protocol”
    “URL Protocol”=”"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\putty\DefaultIcon]
    @=”\”D:\\path\\to\\putty.exe\”,0″

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\putty\shell]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\putty\shell\open]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\putty\shell\open\command]
    @=”D:\\path\\to\\putty.exe -l root -i D:\\path\\to\\key.ppk -file %1″

And calling it as “putty: filename”, assuming my sessions is hosted in files, not in registry.

Unfortunatelly, the same command line called in cmd does not work in browser, so I’m looking for the full list of command lines to workaround it.

    Thanks for you attention.

Was just wondering if you could provide a way to subscribe to updates. Whether that be auto updates in the application or just an RSS feed somewhere so I know when a new version is released.

    Hi Faux,

nice to see that the project has been resumed.
Is there any chance to see the tabs support implemented on putty tray?

    Keep up a good work.
    Bye.

    Hi Faux,

Is there any build instruction for build the codes from you github repository.
I want to make some fix but I can’t build it.
All the build method listed on README is not working.
The required file were removed from your repository.
“Buildscr” seems to be the one for build puttytray.
But I don’t know how to use it with Windows SDK.
    Can you provide some information.

    Thank you.

Hmm. Your version 0.62-t008 needs ctrl to minimize to tray? Previous versions minimized to the tray by default. Simmons’ version seems to work as this fork used to. Am I missing something? Didn’t find any options to change this behaviour.
