TES Oblivion: Sutch
I was looking through the Bink video files (player) in the \Oblivion\Data\Video directory, and noticed something strange in CreditsMenu.bik…

Anyone who has played Oblivion will probably notice that Sutch doesn’t exist in the game, and is certainly not where it’s shown in this video.
Also, the name suggests that this video is shown from the main menu’s “credits” option.. it isn’t, the credits just scroll over the existing background (“Map loop.bik”), which seems to avoid Sutch’s location.
My guess is that the city was planned and removed. I wonder if the credits video is shown at the end, or if it was an accident to include it?

They obviously intended at one stage to put it in. Other than the video you showed, theres also a cell in the CS called something like ‘County Sutch Docks’.
Something i’ve found myself, I extracted the game’s heightmap, and looking at it you can see exactly where Sutch was planned to be placed, the land is carved out around it. Here have a look: http://s73.photobucket.com/albums/i201/Vality7/TES3%20Cyrodiil/sutch.jpg

Judging by the distance and direction from Kvatch, it seems that the city was supposed to be exactly where Fort Sutch is; Sutch did make it into the game in a way, just not quite as large as planned.

Go to about 6 minutes in and watch. Keep watch to where Sutch is. Sutch wasn’t a mistake… it was removed.

wow why the hell they remove it, not like it cost anymore effort to keep it there?!

You could see it in an early E3 build of the game as well. Too bad it was removed

Lol, that’s some amusing reckoning you’re doing.

This is a little late but, yeah Betheda had made Sutch as a city but had it removed, they left the ruined fort sutch where the original keep was. The area around it is still called County Sutch by the game. There are several books and NPC’s that mention Sutch which you can find by doing the fighters guild quests, i guess Betheda forgot to remove them.

If anybody wanted to have Sutch in their Oblivion somebody released an addon that adds their version of Sutch as well as a small questline: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16815

Not only does it appear in the credits,(this one probably is a bug) in the fighter’s guild quest, after you finish “Mystery at Harlun’s Watch” a dialog popup says “…but I should speak with Azzan at Sutch if I haven’t already.” Interesting. So now I’m stuck as to what I’m supposed to do, and where I’m supposed to go.
